Monday Sessions
May 5, 2025
Day One of the Symposium on Antisemitism began with a powerful panel on Geographies of Hate Across Three Continents featuring featured speakers Dr. Ira Robinson, Dr. Yolande Cohen, and Dr. Shay Pilnik. The morning keynote by Dr. Peter Suedfeld, Complex Trauma, Complex Resilience, explored antisemitism through the lens of psychological resilience.
Participants had the opportunity to bond over a relaxed BBQ lunch and bonfire with smores before the afternoon continued with a keynote panel featuring Dr. David Hirsh and Izabella Tabarovsky on The Evolution of Contemporary Antisemitism. After high tea, a much needed break from the intensity of the previous sessions, a fascinating group of presenters providing a range of global perspectives on Quantitative and Qualitative Trends in Antisemitism Research.
Monday Keynote Dinner

Monday concluded with an elegant keynote dinner featuring Dr. Peter Suedfeld, Holocaust survivor and Dean Emeritus of Graduate Studies and Professor Emeritus of Psychology at University of British Columbia on the topic: The Assumptive World, Shattered and Replaced.
He was warmly introduced by Brock University’s Vice Provost of Teaching and Learning, Dr. Rajiv Jhangiani, who highlighted Dr. Suedfeld’s groundbreaking work in trauma, resilience, and the psychology of survival. The evening gave scholars, students, and community leaders a perfect opportunity to reflect on the day’s insights and continue conversations in a more personal setting.
Tuesday Sessions
May 6, 2025
The morning began with an eye opening panel on the impact BDS is having on North American campuses followed by another panel focused on sharing their research on decoding and countering antisemitism from a digital and psycholinguistics perspective. After another delicious and socially uplifting lunch, Professor Cary Nelson shared his lived experience dealing with the rise in antisemitism and its impact the academy.
Afternoon sessions explored both quantitative and qualitative research on the effects of antisemitism in medicine, education, and professional spaces, followed by a powerful panel on the role of Jews in the evolving EDI landscape across Canadian universities.
Tuesday Kosher Wine Tasting

To close the day, participants gathered for a kosher wine tasting and networking reception at Tzafona Cellars, a Kosher winery, nestled in the heart of Niagara’s wine country.
This fun, elegant and relaxed evening offered a chance for participants to bond, network, reflect on the day's knowledge shared while sparking ideas for opportunities that will enable many more cross-institutional collaborations.
Each of the wines tasted were more delicious than the next and were perfectly paired with the cheese board assortment. Amnon's Pizza from Hamilton was there with a pop-up tent offering fresh, made-to-order pizzas straight out of the flames and the rest of the food was exceptional!
Wednesday Sessions
May 7, 2025
Day Three invited deep reflection and forward-thinking dialogue. The morning featured powerful and eye-opening presentations on strategies, lived experiences, and the personal reflections of Jewish academics navigating increasingly challenging environments.
The afternoon focused on Informing Responses with roundtable discussions on knowledge translation, research dissemination, advocacy, EDI policy, and anti-antisemitism training, laying the groundwork for meaningful action beyond academia. The day concluded with High Tea, closing the symposium in an atmosphere of connection and collaboration.
